The Koren Specific Technique is one of the newer methods of Chiropractic. It is a unique system of analysis. It is often used with an instrument the 'Arthrostim' as its method of creating the changes in the body to help the body to correct itself.
The Koren Specific Technique (KST) opens up a new horizon on the analysis and correction of health problems. It does this by accessing the binary (yes/no, 0/1, on/off) information of the holographic1 body we all made with. This enables a trained practitioner to access information about a patient's physiology that otherwise would not be available.
A peculiar part of a hologram is that even small parts of the hologram contain all of the information contained within the whole. By analysing the information contained within the parts, the "whole" is revealed. This blueprint information can be compared to what is currently present/available so that beneficial alterations of physiology can be made.
KST is a skilful combination by Tedd Koren D.C. of the work of some of the greats in healing and chiropractic, Lowell Ward, D.C., Harris Coulter, Ph.D>, Alf Breig, M.D.Ph.D., John Upledger D.O., O.M.M., Scott Walker, D.C., L.C.Chen, Ph.D., Richard van Rumpt, D.C.. I am privileged to have been introduced to this work.
|Benefits to Chiropractor||Benefits to Patients|
|Able to analyse varied health problem/s||
The most important problem is worked on first, not necessarily the one with the greatest symptoms
This usually makes for a faster recovery
|Knowing what where, when and in what order to adjust||Gentle, comfortable, safe|
|Work on entire body: Cranial/facial/TMJ, spine, pelvis, upper and lower extremities, body-mind issues, some visual problems, neurologically mediated chemical sensitivities, patterns of stress in a cohesive patient's body directed way||Less corrective stress|
Analysis of a patient is done using the binary properties of the body's holographic1 communication system. It is monitored by observing the Occipital Drop (OD) This taps into the body's ability to provide information to the chiropractor in the form of a yes/no indication to the information being sought. This is similar to Applied Kinesiology where muscle strength can indicate what, where and when to adjust a subluxation, what muscle is not working properly and being able to test to see when it has improved.
This is brings us back to the philosophy of chiropractic which goes:
1 There is order in the universe. That order is expressed in the laws of the physical universe. Chiropractors call this order "Universal Intelligence"
2 Within the human body there is also an order, we call that order "Innate Intelligence".
3 Innate intelligence organises the body through the control capability of the nervous system.
4 When there is injury especially to the head and spine, the subluxation process that results, alters the control of the nervous system.
5 The alteration in nerve function will send either too much signal, too little signal or faulty signal to the body which acts on that information.
6 Altered nerve signals change the way the body works and feels and how the world is perceived and interacted with.
7 Subluxated nerves make us perceive the world through a subluxated (altered, changed from what it should be) reality. A subluxation always disconnects the body from the harmony it was supposed to have. Not a good state to be in.
8 A chiropractic adjustment is applied to a subluxation to re-establish the order of "Innate Intelligence" and return the body to a state of comfort and ease. There are often many distorting subluxations present in the body that seem to present themselves in layers of importance.
With the KST method, the adjustment is generally made with an instrument called the "Arthrostim" although finger pressure can also be used.
Its main feature is that its active end vibrates at 12-14 cycles per second which is pleasant and helps muscles to relax. This instrument makes it possible to quickly, gently, pleasantly and easily make adjustments to subluxations. The impact of the Arthrostim ranges from a minor vibration to a heavier hammering with an infinite seamless variation along the way.
The process of improvement2 generally involves some form of revisiting the symptoms of the past. Most of the time a patient will "retrace" through some of those symptoms as they improve. It is seen as an unwinding of stresses. All real healing seems to go through some form of retracing. Retracing intensity can vary, but it will be less intense than the original symptoms and there will be a knowing within the patient that this is from the past and that it is a part of processing old distortion patterns. Processing time can range from seconds to a few days. Often retracing happens in the dream state.
As the body heals, it does so in a specific order. That order is called Hering's Law of Cure:
So most important organs are healed first and symptoms reverse from above downward and from inside to outer parts. There is an unwinding of problems. Only when proper unwinding and reconnection through proper healing, not suppression, is there revealed the true extent of multiple traumas that the body has endured.Analysis
KST analysis is made by carefully observing changes at the back of the head called the "occipital drop" The drop varies in relation to the challenges presented to the body. Those challenges may be physical, emotional, mental, and chemical. Some subluxations are only locatable in the position or state in which "the injury" was created. By observing the "occipital drop" in relation to a challenge, it is possible to determine the most beneficial position/state that a patient must be placed into so as to reveal its presence and also the position in which to make a corrective adjustment. Patients need to be in a different place to where they are comfortable to be able to make a meaningful improvement, otherwise the problem is not solvable. This is at the heart of many recurring health issues.
KST is a very different and effective way to have subluxation distortions corrected. There is always a reason for and adjustment 1) being made and 2) being made in a particular position, action or thought. It is to recreate either the state in which injury occurred, or, in which the distortions of subluxation is most efficiently adjusted. If some of the actions or positions required for making the adjustments are perplexing to you, then ask me why they are needed.
